Safety Review of WMATA Metrorail Operations

In a joint effort with the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, Interactive Elements conducted this comprehensive review of WMATA safety issues for the FTA's Office of Safety and Security. The investigation focused on four key areas: the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures, the allocation of budget and other resources for the accomplishment of safety policies and procedures, safety-related training, and emergency simulations and drills. In addition, operational safety and emergency procedures were studied. The project was part of the review of conditions prior to a fatal accident in 1996.
