Grade Crossings Screening Study
Interactive Elements, working with F.R. Harris (now part of AECOM), surveyed the grade crossings on NJ Transit's right of way, to assist the agency in identifying and prioritizing specific candidates for elimination. Interactive Elements developed and delivered a rail safety training course to assure the safety of both firms' field surveyors who were working on the right of way under traffic. We also developed the field survey methodology and forms, created and managed the database, and performed the mathematical analysis for safety prioritization using the FRA accident model and historic safety statistics. Interactive Elements also performed the field surveys of 100 of the railroad's 300 crossings. [311]
