Kearny Connection Construction Management Services
The Kearny Connection allows trains from NJ Transit's Morris and Essex Lines to access the Northeast Corridor and travel directly into New York's Penn Station. Upon completion of construction, NJ Transit began its highly successful Midtown Direct service. Interactive Elements managed all safety activities, including the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program for all contractor personnel; coordinated construction planning and rail operations at three railroads; and conducted outreach to governmental agencies, local officials and affected communities. Public affairs work included the planning and execution of a public event attended by the Governor of New Jersey, both U.S. Senators, and other state and local dignitaries. The rail construction safety-training program included many of the elements later adopted by the FRA for its mandated Roadway Worker Protection program. [246]
