FTA PMO Shared Right-of-Way Study

Interactive Elements reviewed the issues surrounding operation of light rail transit systems on heavy rail rights of way. The resulting report included discussions of temporal and physical separation of operations and crashworthiness requirements for light rail vehicles. The report also discussed transit agencies that have successfully applied for waivers from the FRA to operate within such rights of way.   [1218]
